ESTATE ADMINISTRATION

If you have been appointed as executor of an estate and are looking for an attorney to guide you through the probate process we can provide you with competent legal counsel.   We prepare the petition for probate and the other documents needed to start probate, we set up probate at the county courthouse, we notify the beneficiaries, prepare the inheritance tax return, prepare the family accounting, file all the required papers with the court and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and maintain the estate account as part of our estate administration service.  You always maintain control of the assets of the estate and, although we prepare all of the legal documents required to administer the estate, you are advised of, and must approve, each step of the estate administration process.  Most estates are opened within one month of the date of death.  There is at least one very good reason to initiate probate before three months from the date of death.  If probate is not initiated within one year of death we will have to explain the delay to the court before we can open the estate.

Estate Administration Fees.  Click here for information about our fees.

A good place to start the administration of any estate is by gathering some information. Once you have gathered this information, you should call us to set up an estate administration appointment. If you do not have all of the information, you shouldn't feel like to need to have every piece of information before we can get started, however, the more information we have, the smoother and more quickly we can administer the estate.

You should provide answers to the questions on this form to the best of your ability.  We ask that you not transmit this information over the internet. Rather, print this form out on paper, fill it out to the best of your ability and then either fax it to our office at 610-828-1769 or bring it with you to your estate administration appointment. If you are not certain about what accounts or assets the decedent owned, you may want to call our office to discuss how to proceed.   If you think you have a pretty good idea of what assets are in the estate then answer the questions to the best of your ability.  Enter the information you know and if you don’t know some details, just say you don’t know on the form or write a question mark and we can get that information as we go.  Don’t feel like you have to know every detail before you start.

Get started now by contacting us by clicking here.

You can also start to gather the necessary information by clicking here to get our estate information form.

We also have a checklist of documents that will help in administering an estate. Click here for our estate checklist.
